Salah satu Tempat wisata di Ponorogo Jawa Timur Yaitu Telaga Ngebel adalah merupakan danau alami yang letaknya di Kecamatan ngebel yang jaraknya dari pusat kota sekitar 30 km.Luas telaga ngebel sekitar 5 km dengan suhu udara yang berkisar 21 -27 derajat celcius tentunya udara dengan suhu seperti ini sangatlah sejuk sehingga pengunjung akan di buat kerasan.letak telogo ngebel sendiri adalah di kaki gunung wilis untuk mencapai tempat ini di lalui dengan perjalanan yang berkelok kelok menapaki kaki gunung wilis tentunya dengan kendaraan yang kondisinya prima agar bisa mencapai ke lokasi dengan aman.

Telaga ngebel ini juga merupakan pusat wisata yang paling ramai di kunjungi diantara tempat wisata lainya yang ada di Kabupaten Ponorogo.Sumber air yang mengaliri telogo ngebel ini berasal dari kanal santen yang cukup deras.Disamping itu, juga terdapat juga sungai yang mengalirinya, yang mana dibagian hulu sungai juga ada air terjun yang diberi nama Air Terjun Toyomarto.Disamping pengunjung dapat menikmati indahnya Telaga pengunjung juga dapat menikmati hasil bumi yang di perjual belikan di tempat ini di antara buah durian dan buah buah lainya yang memang tumbuh subur di tempat ini.Selain itu pengunjung juga dapat menikmati pemandangan danau dengan menaiki perahu ataupun speed boot

Awal Kisah Telaga Ngebel

Mulanya dihubungkan dengan sebuah kisah se ekor ular naga dengan nama “Baru Klinting“. Ular tersebut menurut kisah adalah jelmaan dari Patih Kerajaan Bantaran Angin. Pada waktu itu Sang patih sedang bersemedi dengan wujud ular lalu secara tidak sengaja ada seorang warga yang kemudian membawa ular jelmaan tersebut ke kampung,nah setelah sampai di kampung, ular jelmaan dari patih bantaran angin tersebut akan dijadikan santapan karena ukuran tubuhnya yang begitu besar. Ketika akan dipotong ular tersebut secara ajaib berubah menjadi seorang anak kecil, yang selanjutnya mendatangi masyarakat dan memutuskan membuat sayembara.

Sang anak lalu menancapkan sebatang lidi di tanah, Namun ada versi yang lain menyebutkan bahwa yang ditancapkan adalah centong nasi.Tapi tidak ada yang sanggup mencabutnya. Bocah ajaib itulah yang berhasil mencabutnya. Dari lubang bekas ditancapkannya lidi atau centong tersebut keluarlah air yang kemudian menjadi mata air yang menggenang hingga membentuk sebuah Telaga. Oleh penduduk kampung tersebut, telaga ini diberi nama telaga Ngebel, yang artinya adalah telaga yang mengeluarkan bau menyengat.

Legenda Telaga Ngebel ini menurut cerita berkaitan erat serta memiliki peran yang penting dalam sejarah Kabupaten Ponorogo.Menurut cerita salah seorang pendiri Kabupaten ini yaitu Batoro Kantong. Sebelum melakukan syiar Islam di Kabupaten Ponorogo, Batoro kantong menyucikan diri terlebih dahulu di mata air, yang ada di dekat Telaga Ngebel yang kini dikenal dengan nama Kucur Batoro.
