Asal usul Nama Sungai Cisadane Tangerang Banten,Mendengar  kata cisadane tentunya  pikiran kita pasti akan tertuju dengan Tangerang. Cisadane merupakan Sungai yang membelah Tangerang  ini pastinya sudah melekat  dan jadi ikon Tangerang . Sungai Cisadane memiliki  panjang sekitar 126 km dan ini menjadi bagian yang tidak dapat terpisahkan dari Tangerang.

Pada mulanya dalam waktu yang  berabad-abad lamanya  sebelumnya  aliran Cisadane digunakan oleh  para pedagang yang ingin berlayar ke daerah Tangerang. Dahulu sebelumnya  sungai  Cisadane ini memiliki nama Sadane. Nah Ci istilah dalam bahasa Sunda yang berarti sungai, Sedangkan kata Sadane adalah berasal dari bahasa Sanskerta yang memiliki arti istana kerajaan. Jadi  nama CiSadane memiliki arti sungai yang asalnya dari istana kerajaan. Dan yang dimaksud istana kerajaan tersebut Kemungkinan adalah Kerajaan Pajajaran dengan ibukota di Pakuan  Bogor.

Asal usul Nama Sungai Cisadane Tangerang Banten Sungai Cisadane memiliki Panjang dari hulu sampai ke hilir kurang lebih 126 kilometer. Dari bagian hulu hingga sampai Tangerang, sungai Cisadane mempunyai  tebing sungai yang cukup terjal dan juga dalam. Akan tetapi pada saat sampai di Tangerang menuju muara, tebing sungai semakin  rendah namun aliran sungai mulai melebar.

Berdasarkan  catatan sejarah pada abad 16 sungai cisadane ini di gunakan untuk lalu lintas dagang dan banyak kapal dagang kecil memasuki muara Cisadane untuk berlabuh ke Tangerang.  Kemungkinan pada  waktu itu tempat yang di gunakan adalah daerah Mauk, Kedaung, Sewan, Kampung Melayu, dan Teluk Naga, dan tempat ini pada jamanya masih berupa rawa-rawa, sehingga muara sungai Cisadane masih berada di dekat Tangerang.

Dan Keberadaan aliran sungai Cisadane di Tangerang  ternyata sangat penting . Ini Karena aliran air sungai Cisadane digunakan untuk  produksi air bersih yang yang di kelolla oleh PDAM untuk memasok masyarakat dan industi yang berada Tangerang dan daerah jakarta yang berdekatan dengan Tangerang. Bahkan aliran sungai cisadane ini manjadi tumpuan bagi masyarakat Tangerang baik Kota Maupun Kabupaten dalam urusan air bersih. Karena jika aliran sungai cisadane ini mengalami gangguan maka akan berdampak sangat luas terhadap kehidupan masyarakat yang sangat membutuhkan pasokan air bersih.

Seiring dengan berkembangnya Tangerang saat ini  Selain untuk layanan air bersih, Sungai Cisadane juga sering digunakan untuk perayaan festival lokal dan perayaan lainya yang berhubungan dengan Tangerang. Sebagai contoh sebut saja Festival Cisadane yang perayaanya selalu ramai karena selalu ada kegiatan yang melibatkan masyarakat Tangerang dalam setiap acara tersebut dilaksanakan. Dan di sungai cisadane saat ini sudah di bangun jembatan yang di atasnya terdapat kaca yang bisa melihat ke bawah aliran sungai jika pengunjung berada diatasnya.

Sungai Cisadane ini sangat lekat dengan Kota Tangerang, Kabupaten Tangerang, dan Tangerang Selatan atau yang sekarang di namakan Tangerang Raya. Semoga Cisadane terus dapat mengalir juga bebas dari polusi air, sehingga  sungai cisadane akan selalu bisa dimanfaatkan untuk seluruh masyarakat Tangerang sampai anak dan cucu kita.
