Sekitar 580 taekwondoin dari 34 propinsi turut mengambil bagian dari set kwalifikasi Pra PON 2020, yang diadakan di Stadion Indoor Sport Center Karawaci, Kabupaten Tangerang, Banten. Kwalifikasi diadakan 27-29 September 2019.

Ketua Umum Pengurus Besar Taekwondo Indonesia (PB TI), Letjen TNI (Purn) H. M Thamrin Marzuki menjelaskan, faksinya mengharap set Kwalifikasi Pra PON 2020 ini, bisa meningkatkan serta tingkatkan prestasi beberapa taekwondoin di semua propinsi.

Oleh karena itu, diinginkan propinsi yang ikuti arena ini, sudah menyiapkan beberapa atletnya semaksimal mungkin untuk perkembangan prestasi taekwondo Indonesia pada tingkat nasional. Karena arena yang dibarengi oleh taekwondoin senior serta paling baik disetiap propinsi ini, sejumlah besar bisa menjadi kemampuan taekwondo nasional dalam sebagai wakil negara di event-event internasional, katanya.

Dalam kerangka itu karena itu beberapa pengurus propinsi serta beberapa olahragawan, selalu tidak saja konsentrasi sebagai wakil daerahnya kelak di PON 2020 di Papua, dan juga arena ini diprioritaskan untuk merampas tempat paling baik di timnas untuk ikuti SEA Games 2019 di Filipina

Semakin dekatnya penerapan PON 2020 Papua serta SEA Games 2019 Filipina, diinginkan semua pengurus taekwondo Indonesia sudah menyiapkan olahragawan – olahragawan potensialnya dengan optimal agar bisa ikut berperan serta untuk perkembangan serta prestasi taekwondo Indonesia pada tingkat nasional, Asia atau dunia. Besar kami harap, putra-putri taekwondoin paling baik dari semua propinsi ini bisa memberi hasil yang optimal,” tutur Thamrin Marzuki.

Selain itu, Ketua Bagian Pembinaan serta Prestasi, Yefi Triaji menjelaskan jika set kwalifikasi PON 2020 ini dikerjakan tidak hanya ikuti ketetapan kalender program, SOP laga serta skema laga berstandard World Taekwondo, sesuai alasan serta input semua pengurus propinsi.
