Taekwondo Kota Tangerang Gelar Seleksi Atlet untuk POPDA 2025
Tangerang, 19 Juni 2025 — Pengurus Cabang Taekwondo Indonesia (TI) Kota Tangerang menggelar seleksi resmi untuk menjaring atlet-atlet terbaik yang akan memperkuat tim Kota Tangerang pada ajang Pekan Olahraga Pelajar Daerah (POPDA) Banten 2026. Seleksi ini berlangsung selama dua hari, bertempat di GOR Neglasari, dan diikuti oleh puluhan pelajar tingkat SMP dan SMA dari berbagai sekolah di Kota Tangerang.
Ketua Umum TI Kota Tangerang, Roy Marjuk, mengatakan bahwa seleksi ini merupakan bagian dari program pembinaan jangka panjang dan persiapan menuju POPDA tingkat provinsi. “Kami mencari atlet-atlet muda potensial yang memiliki teknik, mental, dan semangat juang untuk mewakili Kota Tangerang. Ini adalah tahapan penting sebelum masuk ke pemusatan latihan,” ujar Roy.
Proses seleksi dilakukan secara objektif dan profesional, melibatkan pelatih bersertifikat nasional dan juri dari Pengprov TI Banten. Para peserta diuji dalam kategori kyorugi (tarung) dan poomsae (jurus), sesuai dengan ketentuan usia dan kelas berat badan yang telah ditetapkan oleh panitia.
Menurut Pelatih Kepala Taekwondo POPDA Kota Tangerang, Ahmad Sopian, tahun ini persaingan lebih ketat dibanding tahun-tahun sebelumnya. “Banyak atlet muda yang menunjukkan perkembangan signifikan. Ini menjadi tantangan sekaligus potensi besar bagi tim POPDA nanti,” katanya.
Salah satu peserta seleksi, Nadira Putri, siswi kelas X dari SMA Negeri 8 Tangerang, mengaku antusias mengikuti seleksi ini. “Saya sudah latihan intensif selama tiga bulan. Semoga bisa lolos dan mengharumkan nama sekolah dan Kota Tangerang di ajang provinsi,” ungkap Nadira.
Seleksi ini juga didukung penuh oleh Dinas Pemuda dan Olahraga (Dispora) Kota Tangerang yang menargetkan prestasi lebih tinggi dari tahun sebelumnya. Pada POPDA 2024, cabang taekwondo berhasil menjadi Juara umum .
Dengan digelarnya seleksi ini, Taekwondo Kota Tangerang berharap bisa membentuk tim yang solid, berprestasi, dan mampu bersaing di tingkat provinsi bahkan nasional.
