Liga Pelajar dan Mahasiswa Taekwondo Kota Tangerang di Gor Jatiuwung 11 – 12 Desember 2023. Para atlet tersebut berasal dari sekolah-sekolah dan klub taekwondo yang ada di Kota Tangerang. Kegiatan ini di ikuti oleh 700 atlet  

Kadispora Kota Tangerang Kaonang bertindak langsungn membuka kejuaraan ini, pada hari Senin Tgl 11 Desember 2023 bertempat di Gor Jatiuwung. Kaonang juga didampingi Kepala Bidang Olahraga Dispora Jejen Jaenudin, Ketua Tim Kerja Olahraga Dispora Elvida Nuke Nilvana dan Ketua Tim Kerja Sarana Prasarana Dispora Sukamto.

Kepala Dispora Kaonang dalam sambutanya juga menyampaikan, Kota Tangerang pada pertengahan 2024 akan menjadi tuan rumah di ajang Pekan Olahraga Pelajar Daerah (Popda) XI Banten. Jika atlet taekwondo berhasil merebut medali emas dalam Pekan Olahraga Pelajar Daerah, maka bagi yang saat ini merupakan pelajar SMP dan sederajat dipersilahkan memilih sekolah lanjutan (SMA) sederajat yang diinginkan . Dan bagi yang pelajar SMA sederajat dalam Popda XI Banten 2024 yang berhasil memperoleh medali emas, diberi kesempatan untuk melanjutkan kuliah secara gratis hingga lulus di Universitas Yatsi. Selain itu Pemerintah Kota Tangerang juga menyediakan hadiah berupa bonus uang,” imbuhnya

Disampaikan lebih lanjut oleh Kaonang, pada kejuaraan pelajar dan mahasiswa  ini semua atlet disertakan dalam program BPJS Ketenagakerjaan selama 1 bulan. Jadi seandainya atlet dalam waktu satu bulan kepesertaan program perlindungan ini mengalami cedera yang memerlukan perawatan di rumah sakit, maka seluruh biayanya dijamin pihak BPJS Ketenagakerjaan.

Panitia Liga Pelajar dan Mahasiswa Taekwondo Kota Tangerang 2023, yang di ketuai oleh Pitang menjelaskan kejuaraan ini diikuti oleh para atlet dari sekolah-sekolah dan klub Taekwondo yang ada di Kota Tangerang.

“Jumlah peserta kejuaraan ini  700 peserta dari 62 sekolah dan 35 klub sekota Tangerang. Ini juga merupakan ajang untuk mencari bibit atlet-atlet taekwondo pelajar untuk disertakan dalam seleksi Popda,” jelas Pitang.

Taekwondo merupakan salah satu lumbung medali emas, sambung Pitang, maka Taekwondo Kota Tangerang menargetkan pada perhelatan Popda XI Banten 2024 yang akan datang merebut juara umum.

Ditambahkan Pitang, usai bertarung di arena Liga Pelajar dan Mahasiswa Taekwondo Kota Tangerang, selanjutnya tim dari Kota Seribu Industri Sejuta Jasa ini akan berlaga di gelanggang Kejuaraan Daerah Taekwondo Provinsi Banten.

Sementara itu edi, yang merupakan salah satu wali atlet dari sauqi siswi SMPN 9 Kota Tangerang yang ikut berlaga di gelanggang Liga Pelajar dan Mahasiswa Taekwondo Kota Tangerang 2023 mengatakan dirinya sangat mendukung adanya kejuaraan ini.
“Kejuaraan taekwondo liga pelajar ini sangat positif untuk perkembangan anak-anak sekolah guna berlomba meningkatkan prestasi,” jelas Edi, orang tua Sauqi.
